Selena Gomez and Camila Cabello are a major pop star duo. The two singers have been friends for years, often supporting one another’s personal projects and giving each other shout-outs during interviews. So, when did they meet exactly? Keep reading to see their friendship timeline:
The former Disney star first met the “Señorita” singer alongside her former Fifth Members in December 2015, during Z100’s Jingle Ball, where they posed for a picture together. Since then, they have maintained a steady and supportive friendship!
In 2022, Camila credited Selena as one of her trusted close friends during an interview with People Magazine.
“She is somebody that’s always been so supportive, a really great friend, and a person with great values. She’s super empathetic, loyal, and honest,” Camila said of Selena. “We have our own little group, and we hang out, and all of our conversations are real.”
“I feel like she’s never pretending, and I don’t feel like I have to pretend around her. Those are the most worthwhile friendships,” she continued. “Women like her being so vulnerable and honest with their feelings is such a guiding light for me, and I think it’s going to alleviate a lot of people coming after her, after me, in the industry, that feel like they have to be perfect.”
Selena and Camila also have a common celebrity friendship: Taylor Swift!
While everyone knows by now that Selena and Taylor are *the* pop star BFFs, Camila has also recently gotten close to the Grammy-winning songstress. While discussing her album C,XOXO in June 2024, the “June Gloom” singer dished on what it was like becoming friends with Taylor after being a huge Swiftie — and how Taylor helped with her own songwriting.
“I was the f–king biggest Taylor fan. Then she became my friend a few years after,” she told Apple Music 1′s Zane Lowe in June 2024. “I think it took me a little bit to learn as a writer that if you’re a really emotional person, instead of just saying, ‘This devastated me,’ which Taylor is a master at this, and all the great writers are masters of this, you don’t say, ‘I was jealous.’ You say, ‘I want to wear her hair on my head,’ or something. You know what I mean? You don’t say the emotion, you paint it.”
