Channing Tatum is vehemently denying claims made by his ex-wife Jenna Dewan that he is hiding assets tied to earnings from Magic Mike, as a representative for the actress tells PEOPLE she is hoping for an “honest conclusion” to their ongoing legal battle.
Last month, Dewan, 43, submitted a court filing amid the exes’ current legal battle over finances in their divorce proceedings, in which she accused Tatum, 44, of working with third parties to shield profits made from the film franchise which was created while the pair were married.
Now, in new court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Tatum has refuted the claims, stating, “I have never denied her share of any community assets or income. Her claims that I have ‘colluded with third parties’ are completely false.”
“She has had complete access to all our financial records for all activities during our marriage and since separation. I continue to provide her with updates regarding Magic Mike financial matters,” the actor added of Dewan, whom he divorced in 2019.
In a statement to PEOPLE, a representative for Dewan says, “Is Channing really calling Jenna a ‘liar’ for trying to get back an asset that he effectively stole from her in clear violation of California family law?”
“These latest smears and falsehoods are really just more of the same bullying and gaslighting Jenna has been subjected to for years,” the statement continues. “Regardless of whether Channing chooses to do the right thing, Jenna is confident that the law and the facts are on her side and she hopes this will soon come to a proper and honest conclusion.”
A representative for Tatum did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment about to the statement made by Dewan’s team.
Though a judge ruled them single in 2019, Tatum and Dewan are still squaring off in court over a financial settlement involving profits from the Magic Mike franchise, along with division of property, reimbursement claims, allegations of breach of fiduciary duty and attorneys’ fees, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The former couple is also settling child support matters involving their 10-year-old daughter, Everly.
Dewan is seeking a separate court trial over profits made from Tatum’s Magic Mike franchise, which has spawned three films, live shows and TV shows, following the first Magic Mike film’s release in 2012. Dewan’s lawyer said at a hearing in April that the franchise was “a potential billion dollar asset.”
In his latest filing, Tatum said he has “only acted in the best interest of the community throughout our marriage and since separation.”
“I have expended substantial post-separation efforts to enhance the Magic Mike intellectual property and I have also licensed my name and likeness to the related business,” he continued.
Added Tatum, “I believe these post-separation efforts give rise to my separate property claims to those assets but they have also benefitted the community. Without my post-separation efforts, the Magic Mike entities would have failed.”
Dewan’s representative previously told PEOPLE, “Jenna is just looking for a fair resolution of community assets of the marriage, under California State Law. Jenna wants to reach a final determination and close this chapter on her life as soon as possible.”
A source close to Tatum recently maintained to PEOPLE, however, that the financial dispute between the pair is being “dragged on because Jenna’s actions and claims continuously contradict themselves.”
“She says she wants a fair settlement but is ignoring all post-separation work Channing and his partners have done to enhance Magic Mike,” they said. “She keeps stalling negotiations, but says she wants to resolve this.”
Another Tatum source also recently told PEOPLE that the actor is ready to end his legal battle with Dewan.
“Channing‘s not happy about the latest court drama,” the insider said, adding, “He wants it to be over.”
